Install an earthquake-sensitive gas shut-off valve
A gas line that breaks in an earthquake can lead to fire. An earthquake-sensitive shut-off valve stops the flow of gas automatically. Requirements can apply to new construction and remodeling projects, so ask us or your local building department.
Install flexible gas connectors
Use flexible gas connectors on all gas appliances, including the water heater.
Strap your water heater
Fasten the water heater securely to the wall studs with a strap or a strip of plumber’s tape. If it tips over in an earthquake and the gas line breaks, it could cause an explosion and fire. You would also lose a valuable source of water.
We can help with all three. Call us to talk through your home.
