Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about our plumbing service, coverage, and credentials across Marin County.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. Mason Plumbing provides free estimates for plumbing service, repair, and installation throughout Marin County. Call 415-456-4554 or send us a message online to get started.

What areas do you serve?

We serve all of Marin County, California, including San Rafael, San Anselmo, Fairfax, Ross, Kentfield, Larkspur, Corte Madera, Mill Valley, Sausalito, Tiburon, Novato, and surrounding communities. If you live or work in Marin County, we can be your plumbing company.

Are you licensed, bonded, and insured?

Yes. Mason Plumbing holds California Contractor License #817803, is fully bonded and insured, and is Diamond Certified, rated highest in quality by independent customer surveys for 10 consecutive years.

What plumbing services do you offer?

We handle sewer and drain cleaning (including hydro jetting and video inspection), water heater repair and tankless installation, recirculating pump installation, water-conservation upgrades, leak detection and repair, seismic gas shut-off valves, garbage disposals, and full plumbing remodels for homes and businesses.

How quickly can you respond?

Based in central Marin (San Anselmo), we are close to supply warehouses and can often be on the way within one to two hours of your call during business hours. We stock common parts, which often lets us avoid extra return trips.

When should I repair vs. replace my water heater?

As a general rule: if your water heater is under 8 years old and the repair cost is less than half the price of a new unit, repair it. If it is over 10 years old, showing rust in the water, or experiencing repeated failures, replacement is almost always the better investment. We will give you an honest recommendation either way.

What is the difference between a drain snake and hydro jetting?

A drain snake breaks apart a clog. Hydro jetting removes it entirely. At 4,000 PSI or more, high-pressure water scours the entire pipe wall, removing grease, scale, and roots completely. We use snakes for simple clogs and hydro jetting for recurring problems, root intrusion, or buildup that has narrowed the pipe.

How do I know if my sewer line needs cleaning or inspection?

Watch for slow drains throughout the house (not just one fixture), gurgling sounds when you flush, foul odors from drains, or recurring clogs. Any home over 30 years old in Marin County with clay sewer lines benefits from a camera inspection, even without obvious symptoms.

Do you warranty your work?

Yes. We back all plumbing installations with a 2-year labor warranty, plus the factory warranties on any materials we supply.

Who owns Mason Plumbing?
